Syndicate learning, action learning, and 'reflecting teams'
Both of these methods, syndicate learning and action learning, can be seen as forms of group coaching (Thornton, 2010; Hawkins, 2011a).
Having worked with both syndicate learning groups and action learning sets, between 1976 and 1995, I began to be interested in creating a form of leader- ship development that combined the benefits of these learning modalities, with leaders learning the skills of coaching, as well as more effective engage- ment with peers, staff, and stakeholders.
